The piece ranges over a wide variety of musical styles and expressions, from plainsong to classical rock, impressionism, soul and jazz. Titles of sections indicate the variety of moods: Plaintively; Classical Rock; Smooth funk; Strident; Declamatory; Swinging; Light and mercurial; Sleazy; Powerhouse jazz; Sonorous soul music, and others.
