As the title suggests this piece is a unusual mixture and juxtaposition of gentleness and passion, a flowing gentleness often building up to increasingly-passionate climaxes. There are gentle interludes of cascading figures , juxtaposed with powerful dynamic interruptions, but the overall flow is peaceful and gentle.
